Specialist Officer (SO)

A university degree qualifies one for applying IBPS exams if the applicant fulfills the given the age condition. What about professionals? Do they have any special consideration on account of their better skills and education? Well, such a privilege is not available to them in case of regular IBPS exams. However, they get a better standing for IBPS Specialist Officers exam, where they could compete with the equally able candidates. Eligibility Criteria

Candidates, intending to apply for CRPSPL-IV should ensure that they fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria specified by IBPS. Please note that the eligibility criteria specified herein are the basic criteria for applying for the post. Candidates must necessarily produce the relevant documents pertaining to category, nationality, age, educational qualifications etc. in original along with a photocopy thereof in support of their identity and eligibility as indicated in the online application form- Please note that no change of category will be permitted at any stage after registration of the online application. Merely applying for CWE/ appearing for and being shortlisted in the CWE and/or in the subsequent interview and/ subsequent processes does not imply that a candidate will necessarily be offered employment in any of the Participating Organizations. No request for considering the candidature under any category other than in which applied will be entertained.

Nationality / Citizenship

A candidate must be either

  • A Citizen of India or
  • A subject of Nepal or
  • A subject of Bhutan or
  • A Tibetan Refugee who came over to India before 1 January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India, provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) & (v) above shall be a person in whose favor a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.

Age (As on 01.11.2014):

Minimum: 20 years Maximum: 30 years

i.e. a candidate must have been born not earlier than 02.11.1984 and not later than 01.11.1994 (both dates inclusive)

The maximum age limit specified in (II) above is applicable to General Category candidates.

  • 1. The relaxation in upper age limit to SC/ST/OBC candidates is allowed on cumulative basis with only one of the remaining categories for which age relaxation is permitted as mentioned above in Point No. III (3) to III (6).
  • 2. Candidates seeking age relaxation will be required to submit copies of necessary certificate(s) at the time of Interview and at any subsequent stage of the recruitment process as required by IBPS/ Participating Organisation(s).
  • 3. The following rules applicable to Ex-Servicemen re-employed under the Central government would apply to Ex-Servicemen candidates appearing for the CWE
  • * Ex-Servicemen candidates who have already secured employment under the Central Government in Group ‘C’ & ‘D’ will be permitted the benefit of age relaxation as prescribed for Ex-Servicemen for securing another employment in a higher grade or cadre in Group ‘C’/ ‘D’ under the Central Government. However, such candidates will not be eligible for the benefit of reservation for Ex-Servicemen in Central Government jobs.
  • * An ex-Servicemen who has once joined a Government job on civil side after availing of the benefits given to him/her as an Ex-Servicemen for his/her re-employment, his/her Ex- Servicemen status for the purpose of the re-employment in Government jobs ceases.There is no reservation for Ex-servicemen in Officers’ Cadre.

Educational Requirements

A) Educational Requirements for IT Officer (Scale 1) are as follows

Four year degree in Computer Science/Computer Application/Information Technology/Electronics/Electronics & Communications/Electronic & Telecommunications/Electronic & Instrumentation.

OR

Post Graduate Degree in Electronics/Electronics & Telecommunication/Electronics & Communication/ electronic & Instrumentation/Computer Science/Information Technology/Computer Application from a recognized University, Institution.

OR

Graduate from a Recognized University or Institution having passed the DOEACC B Level.

OR

B) Educational Requirements for Agriculture Field Officer (Scale 1) are as follows

Four year degree in Agriculture or allied specializations such as Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Sciences, Dairy Science, Agri Engineering, Fishery Science, Pisciculture, Agri Marketing & Cooperation, Forestry etc. from a recognized university.

C) Educational Requirements for Rajbhasha Adhikari (Scale 1) to fall under the Eligibility Criteria of IBPS Specialist Officer (SO) 2014 are as follows

The candidate must be a post graduate in English with Hindi as a subject at the degree levelOR a post graduate in Sanskrit with English and Hindi as a subject at degree level.

D) Educational Requirements for Law Officer (Scale 1) are as follows

A bachelor degree in law (LLB) is only required to the candidate and should be enrolled as an advocate with the Bar council.

E) Educational Requirement of HR/Personal Officer are as follows

Full time graduate from a recognized university and Full time post graduate degree or diploma recognized by AICTE in Personnel Management/Industrial Relations/ HRD/Social Work/Labour Law OR Degree/Diploma in Business Administration/Management with specialization in HRD from a recognized University.

F) Educational Requirement for Marketing officer (Scale 1) for falling in the eligibility criteria of IBPS Specialist officer (SO) 2014 are as follows

MBA (Marketing)/ 2 years PGDBA/PGDBM or any other equivalent degreeORdiploma from a recognized university or institute.

G) Educational requirement for IT Officer (Scale 2) are as follows

Degree in Computer Science/Computer Application/Information Technology/Electronics/Electronics & Communications/Electronic & Telecommunications/ Electronic & Instrumentation.

OR

Post Graduate Degree in Electronics/Electronics & Telecommunication/Electronics & Communication/ electronic & Instrumentation/Computer Science/Information Technology/Computer Application from a recognized University, Institution.

OR

Graduate from a Recognized University or Institution having passed the DOEACC B Level along with minimum of 2 year post qualification work experience in the IT industry.

H) Educational Requirement for Law Officer (Scale 2) are as follows

A bachelor degree in law (LLB) is only required to the candidate along with minimum of 3 years of practice at Bar or judicial serviceOR 2 years as a Law officer in the legal department of a reputed central or state bank OR a public sector undertaking with practice at Bar.

I) Educational requirement for Chartered Accountant (Scale 2) are as follows

Passed final exam of Chartered accountancy.

J) Educational Requirement for Finance Executive (Scale 2)& Manager credit (Scale 2) to fall under the eligibility criteria of IBPS Specialist Officer (SO) 2014 are as follows

Graduate with CFA, ICWA, Full time MBA, Full Time PGDMB (Finance) with 2 years of work experience in the area of credit appraisal of big, medium industrial projects in scheduled commercial Banks.

In case of dual specialisations, one of the fields of specialisation should be in the field prescribed. In case of major/ minorspecialisations, major specialisation should be in the stream prescribed. Candidates having MBA/PG Diploma with more than twospecialisations are not eligible to apply.

For posts other than IT Officer Scale I candidates should have Certificate/Diploma/Degree in computeroperations/Language/ should have studied Computer / Information Technology as one of the subjects in the HighSchool/College/Institute.

Note:(1) All the educational qualifications mentioned should be from a University/ Institution/ Board recognised by Govt. Of India/ approved by Govt. Regulatory Bodies and the result should have been declared on orbefore 09.12.2014.

Proper document from Board / University for having declared the result on or before 09.12.2014 hasto be submitted at the time of interview. The date of passing the examination which is reckoned foreligibility will be the date of passing appearing on the mark sheet/ Provisional certificate.

Note:(2) Candidate should indicate the percentage obtained in Graduation calculated to the nearest two decimals inthe online application. Where CGPA / OGPA is awarded, the same should be converted into percentageand indicate the same in online application.

Note:(3) Calculation of Percentage:The percentage marks shall be arrived at by dividing the marks obtained by thecandidate in all the subjects in all semester(s)/year(s) by aggregate maximum marks in all the subjectsirrespective of honours / optional / additional optional subject, if any. This will be applicable for thoseUniversities also where Class / Grade is decided on basis of Honours marks only.The fraction of percentage so arrived will be ignored i.e. 59.99% will be treated as less than 60% and54.99% will be treated as less than 55%.

Note: (4) Candidates can apply for only one post. Multiple applications will be summarily rejected.

Selection Procedure

Selection process will be carried out in two stages, the first one is Common Written Examination and second stage is Common Interviews conducted by IBPS. The whole process will be conducted only once a year for Specialist officer by Institute of Banking Personnel Selection.

Pattern

The structure of the Written Examination will be conducted in Online Mode as follows

  • 1. All the Tests will be in Objective Type & is printed in Bilingual Format, except for English Paper.
  • 2. The Specialist Officers Common Written Examination consists of 200 Objective Type Questions, each question carries one mark totally 200 marks and the time duration is 120 minutes.

Negative Marking

There will be penalty for wrong answers marked in the Objective Tests. For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate one fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty to arrive at corrected score. If a question is left blank, i.e. no answer is marked by the candidate, there will be no penalty for that question.

Interview

Candidates who have been shortlisted in the examination for CRPSPL-IV will subsequently be called for anInterview to be conducted by the Participating Organisations and coordinated by the nodal banks with the help ofIBPS. Interviews will be conducted at select centres. The centre, address of the venue, time & date of Interviewwill be informed to the shortlisted candidates in the call letter. Candidates are required to download their interviewcall letters from authorised IBPS websitewww.ibps.in. Please note that any request regarding change in date,centre etc. of interview will not be entertained. However the conducting agencies reserve the right to change thedate/ venue/ time/ centre etc. of interview or hold supplementary process for particular date / session / venue /centre / set of candidates at its discretion, under unforeseen circumstances, if any.

The total marks allotted for Interview are 100. The minimum qualifying marks in interview will not be less than40% (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates). The weightage (ratio) of Online CWE (exam) and interview will be80:20. The combined final scores of candidates shall be arrived at on the basis of total scores obtained by thecandidates in CWE (SPL-IV) and Interview. Interview score of the candidates failing to secure minimumqualifying marks or otherwise barred from the interview or further process shall not be disclosed.

A candidate should qualify both in the CWE and interview and be sufficiently high in the merit to be shortlistedfor subsequent allotment process, details of which will be available subsequently on IBPS website.

While appearing for the Interview, the candidate should produce valid prescribed documents given below.In the absence of documents candidature of the candidates shall be cancelled.
